Laura is a kind, empathetic, and knowledgable therapist. She’s a really good listener, offers good ideas on how to better manage the hills and valleys of life, is honest, professional, funny, and patient. She’s an authentic, whole-hearted person who I honestly feel always saw the true, kind, honest, loving person I was and am. She helped me learn how to talk to myself kinder, be more accountable, how to believe in myself, how to advocate for myself and how to adapt to challenges, stress, and anxiety in healthier ways. She helped me create habits that are more reliable, consistent, and healthier and how to appropriately use realistic coping skills during the bumpy times in an independent fashion that best matched my personality and strengths. It was always a collaborative approach with her and she knew just how much to push, and when to be gentler. She seemed to always know the exact thing to say to to help me understand what I had or was going thru, change what I could, and accept and adapt to what I had no control over. She was always flexible, communicated well, gave creative ideas, and seemed to genuinely care about my well-being. I truly believe that she wants the best for all of her clients-past, present, and future and authentically gives all she can to help them grow. She helped me see past my limitations, fears, mistakes and struggles so that I could embrace the difficult, change, and transform, helping me create the life as I wished and dreamed it to be. I was always a kind, loving, gentle, empathetic, well-meaninged, service-oriented, honest and passionate person who tried the best I could with what I had, and others always saw this, but I tended to get stuck on my flaws, was hard on myself, had a lot of self-doubt, and struggled with follow-thru and consistency. The reliable and consistent results, understanding, longer lasting joy, happiness, success, and freedom just always seemed to be just out of reach. Something seemed to always knock me down, just as I was or almost there but she taught me how to never give up. Thanks to her I have become the authentic, resilient, reflective, successful, joyous and independent person that I am today. Even at times when I wanted to give up, she didn’t give up on me, she kept pushing and guiding me in the right direction. I will forever be grateful for the time, strength and patience she gave me and I hope in time I can do the same for others as she once did for me.
Laura was an amazing therapist to me for 5+ years and an integral part of my journey in becoming the healthier, calmer, happier, values-aligned, self-advocating, and independent mom, wife, and professional in my career I’ve slowly but steadily grown to be today. I chose her because of her perfect location-downtown LaGrange-where I had grown up and still lived 2 small towns over from and visited frequently with my children and mother who still lives in my childhood home and watches my children. It was a perfect location between home and work, I could tie errands into visits, and easily pick up my children from my moms before and after appointments. She had experience in the school setting, which was my career and thus could better relate to work issues. Her educational background stood out as being unique and from larger, reputable Universities that I personally knew to have strong MSW programs, including my alma mater. It was a no-brainer and I instantly found a kind, reassuring, and supportive therapist that I could trust. She helped me navigate the daily struggles of depression, anxiety, and ADHD with calming reassurance and creative ways to cope and communicate better. She was my rock when one of my best friends suddenly passed away and when my 2nd child, my daughter, was born and unexpectedly spent a couple weeks in the NICU with life threatening breathing, heart and lung complications. I can’t imagine how I would have made it thru those times without her guidance and support. She was always honest in a gentle, genuine, and firm but caring way, often mixing in some humor to lighten the mood. Her office is incredibly calming and she offers flexible hours. She is very dedicated to her profession and clients and was always willing to go the extra mile to be supportive, almost to a fault. I wish her the very best in all her future endeavors and whole heartedly recommend her.
