He abused children in a treatment facility. Dr. Wycoff ran Truckee Meadows Hospital in NV when I was there in the 80’s. I was in the adolescent unit. He ruined kids lives and the effects of childhood trauma doesn’t end when you are a child. He admitted and kept kids locked up in there when they shouldn’t have been just to make a buck, and he would tell you that. “You just bought me a new car” he’d say. The longer a kid was there the more money he made. He had a kid in a diaper, he didn’t need a diaper, it was punishment, they put chains on us and lock us up in a room by ourselves, sometimes you were on “room restriction” or “front hall restriction” and weren’t allowed to talk to or look at anyone else for weeks, or months. He’d have “shut downs” where we would have to get up at 4 in the morning and we’d all go into a small room and sit on a hard floor until 2 in the morning and we couldn’t talk to each other. This would go on for however long he wanted usually 3 weeks or so. He’d come in every now and then and say something crude to one of us. Why would this happen? Because he was mad at us for some unknown reason. They’d over medicate us and would purposefully rile kids up, (he’d yell at them and call them cuss words) so they would be upset so he could say they needed to stay there longer, he made so much money off of torturing kids. Most of us didn’t have anything wrong with us accept we were kids. If we really needed his help then why was it the second your insurance ran out you were released, he just wanted your money. He ruined peoples lives. Some didn’t even make it to carry on with heir lives, several committed suicide. He ruined families too. This man was supposed to “help” but he was the opposite. This guy was so abusive to us. He was sued, investigated and kicked out of practicing in the state. He tried to start another adolescent center but parents of abused children protested it and he was basically ran out of state. I can not tell you how awful this man was. I can NOT BELIEVE this man is still practicing in another state, he is a criminal. I am also including other peoples reviews, these reviews have been removed by other dishonest review sites I have faith that DOCSPOT will keep these reviews up for the benefit of informed decision making of patients. Post by Andrew Turner (freelance writer) on Aug 21st, 2014 Like the reviewer above I also spent time under the watch of Dr Stuart Wyckoff in Truckee Meadows Hospital in Reno, NV. I was admitted as an in-patient in 1985 as a 14-year-old as a result of being physically abused by my mum and stepdad. Dr Wyckoff exploited the situation by ripping off my parents private health fund and admitting me to the centre on an indefinite basis. His treatment of me and the other patients in this place, which was effectively a prison, was abhorrent and downright abusive. He was an ultra-manipulative tyrant whose foremost objective was to demean teenage children, shatter their confidence and steal from private health insurers to fund his lifestyle. Dr Wyckoff was a highly immoral self-serving man. He treated his patients with disdain, and he was repeatedly punitive in his approach to rehabilitation. On numerous occasions he forced me and other inpatients to face a blank white wall for hours on end. He would have inpatients shackled and strapped by feet and hands to a mobile bed and place them in a completely white room where they could be heard whaling and yelling for hours. He and his wife would perform psychometric testing on patients separately in a bid to find them telling different versions of themselves, then punish them on the basis that they were lying. Dr Wyckoff betrayed me and my family and incarcerated me in this centre for 2 months, simply because I was beaten by my parents. My"obnoxious" behaviour, he would repeatedly say, was the reason I was abused by my parents and became an inpatient. He taught his punitive methods to my parents who, once I was released, insisted on facing me against a wall for up to 8 hours at a time for several years. On one occasion in "group therapy" he outed a teenager and berated him in front of dozens of people, reducing him tears and in the process blatantly breaching confidentiality by openly sharing very intimate details of the boy's private life with the group. I will never forget the pain and utter humiliation on the face of this poor boy, and have no doubt the damage done would be long-lasting. Dr Stuart Wyckoff has obviously scarred more lives than my own, and he should be avoided at all costs. There should have been an inquiry into his actions at the Hospital and he should have been incarcerated himself for his fraudulence and his disgraceful treatment of teenage children. I am now a happy 43-year-old man, but I will never, ever forget that dark period of my childhood when I crossed paths when I came into contact with Dr Stuart Wyckoff. Post by Jarrod W. Correll (Carpenter/Foreman) on Jul 5th, 2014 I was a somewhat troubled adolescent, growing up in Reno Nv in the mid 1980s, when I was admitted to Truckee Meadows Hospital, where this extremely abusive "man" was the medical director of the adolescent unit. His wife was Dr. Obstfeld PhD., a partner in his practice. I was locked in this facility from the age of 13-15. The staff at the hospital were mostly under his and mostly fearing for their jobs & consequently carried out his abusive brand of treatment. There are far too many incidents of the constant mental abuse as well as the occasional physical abuse, to list in this review, but one of the Things that still comes to surface, all to often, is the following; Listed as two of my issues were depression & low self esteem. Keep in mind I was 13 when I first came under his "care". At 13 yrs of age we all go through puberty and quite a few go through a gangley stage with acne & such, while trying to figure out who we are as a person. His form of treatment for these somewhat superficial, yet natural issues, at this age, in my case, as well as most of my peers cases, was to constantly tell Me what a worthless piece of trash I was and that I would never amount to anything, using explatives that I will rise above while writing this , long overdue review of this guy. I am 41 yrs old now and obviously haven't forgotten the hopeless feeling I endured while literally locked away for what I believed would be forever. I just want too add that when I read the previous review from 2009, it was like reading a piece of my own mind, and is, in its brief description, 0 accurate & I was in somewhat disbelief, that this "Doctor" is still practicing because when I was 17, I stumbled across a Reno Gazette Journal article in my late fathers dresser drawer, that described Stewart M Wycoff as an abusive MD in the psychology field, and that he was run out of Reno, went back to Texas & was even ran out of Texas & finally exposed for his discretions in either Main or Massachusetts (I can't remember which). In closing, I'd just like to say that there is a reason, why, at 41 yes of age, this subject surfaced for me. I am a man of integrity that, by the way, I credit my late father for. I stand 0 behind my word & have listed my real name above, & would be pleased to assist anyone in need, who has been or is currently being abused by this evil man. Its a wonderful world of technology we live e in today and I shouldn't be hard to find. I currently live in northern California. Thanks for reading. ~Zion°â?¢ p.s.In order to submit this review, I had to give an overall rating for this "doctor" I was unable to give zero or negative stars, so let me be clear. This guy deserves no stars, as far as I'm concerned. I hope Suart M. Wycoff reads this review. I know he remembers me. He should. After all I payed for his hot tub and at least one of his cars. He told me that in 1985. As for me I had hoped to forget him, but clearly have not, likely, never will.
