Michael Fischman claims to be not like the other therapists out there, and he sure isn't. Unlike most therapists, his attempts to manipulate and project a narrative onto his patients is far more transparent rather than subtly hidden. He believes that he can tell a whole life story based off of the tone of your voice, and drew broad conclusions about my life and persona based off a few cliche Psych 101 questions. When you question his judgement he deflects with his title saying he knows what he's talking about he's a professional. He then immediately employs tactics of gaslighting by trying to paint you as disassociated or delusional and that he truly sees the whole picture and unless you give into him, you will always be sick. Incredibly fascistic, he also will feel free to say (In his own words) "you sound like a crazy person." When explaining simple concepts like dysphoria or anything gender related. I only could take one session. Everything Deleuze and Guattari warned out.
Hello everyone, I am Michael Fischman. Today is the first time I am looking at this site. I was astonished to see 2 very malicious and erroneous reviews made in 2014. I do not clearly remember who these people were however from the sound of it heir visits were once or twice. The Nov 2014 review indicates that the patient was asked to leave the office because he was out of control and potentially dangerous. He mentions that in his review that he was asked to leave. The other review, Aug 2016 I believe is by a female who also was asked to leave because she was out of control. Please note that all my other reviews are from patients that I treated for extended periods of time. The negative reviews were made by patients who's perception was distorted by their condition and who saw me once and were asked to leave on their second visit.
I originally came to see this therapist in 2014. I was skeptical that he, or anyone, could cure my anxiety problem which was also a panic attack. Michael explained to me what was causing it and in less than 6 months I no longer had the same problem. He helped me to see that my anxiety was being caused by my blocking feelings especially anger. Now, I no longer suffer from this problem and I am also back in school for my MBA which has also to do with help from Michael. And he is doing couples work with me and my fiance. The trick: stay in therapy and keep evolving to higher levels.
Had it not been for Michael I don't know where I would be today. He helped me through my depression and finally helped me get off my meds. Also he helped me get into the addiction field and I am currently doing my CASAC. Saw this site and wanted to express my gratitude.
Been in therapy with Michael for 10 years plus. It is because of him that I no longer have my alcohol problem, have gone back to school and am now in the mental health field as a professional.
I have been a client of Michael's for several years and have come across this site noticing 2 bad reviews. I have known this therapist for his kindness and understanding. I have noticed that one of the entries was from a female patient that was asked to leave because she was acting inappropriately. She entered a bad review out of pure nastiness because she felt rejected. Michael has helped me and continues to help me. Anyone reading this bad review should see that the person only came for one session and probably misunderstood Michael's intentions. I know he can be very direct. Some people may take this the wrong way.
On my first visit he came off as sympathetic and interested in helping me sort through my issues. On my second visit, he became suddenly very abrasive, antagonizing, and downright insulting. Tried to convince me that I was friendless and alone in the world and needed him to get better. Completely unprofessional, accusatory, and came to sweeping conclusions about my life before he had even gotten to know anything about me.
The man should not be working with people who are suffering through anything. He is a sick man, who tries to make you feel more broken than you actually feel. He used demeaning words such as "whacked" and "out of control". Said i would fail in my business. Used sexually derogatory terms completely inappropriate and unexpected from a licensed professional. He was trying to control my thoughts by not letting me speak, he would interject constantly that i was making no sense and that i was disassociated and completely out of control. He bashed other therapists, was discrimanatory towards my profession, and told me things like i should have " beat my girlfriend" to try and be funny. He than proceeded to throw me out of his office the second visit claiming i was worse than the first visit and that i again was all over the place. Commented that he runs an upper middle class practice and didnt have time for people like me. This man should not be working with anyone, let alone people in vulnerable mental states, as i believe one day he will cause someone to do something that cannot be undone.
