I received my medical degree from the Armed Forces Medical College in India and subsequently completed a residency in psychiatry at Nassau County Medical Center. Following residency, I worked for the New York State Office of Mental Health, initially in a clinical position with the Nassau County Mobile Crisis Team (1985-2000) and later in a number of administrative and supervisory roles, which included Associate Medical Director for Outpatient Services (2001-2005), Chief of Psychiatry (2005-2008) and Clinical Director (2008-2014) at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center. I joined Northwell Health in 2014 as Associate Chairman in the Department of Psychiatry at Zucker Hillside Hospital. My role has expanded since then to the position of Associate Vice President for Quality, Northwell Health Behavioral Health Service Line. In this position, I am responsible for standardizing and improving the quality of psychiatric care at all behavioral health settings in the health system. Over the past three years I have also served as Medical Director for Behavior Health at CareConnect Insurance Company and have been Interim Chair of Psychiatry at Lenox Hill Hospital and Interim Medical Director at South Oaks Hospital. I am a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
