With a family history of melanoma and a personal history of displastic nevi I went to Harvey Arbuckle for a full skin exam. He did not check my scalp, the back of my legs (thigh, calf and behind my knees). At the close of our brief time together he said smiled and said "now go out there and get some sun!" and he chuckled. Really not the best bed side manner considering my family history and not the skin exam that I expected from a professional. I'm going to now have to find another practitioner (likely out of network) to get the care that will keep me alive (literally). The most concerning aspect of the appointment was the lack of a full skin exam. I worry for his patients that they are not receiving the exams they need to identify worrisome spots early on. I can only hope this doctor changes his methods before someone pays the consequences. I'm fortunate to recognize I did not receive a full exam so for that I am thankful.
