"This doctor spent about 60 seconds in the room with us and gave my daughter no additional exam than what her pediatrician gave her (no scope to look at adenoids), and immediately suggested 2 fairly serious surgical procedures as casually as if he were offering a cup of coffee. He had one foot out the door when I tried to ask whatever questions I could muster in the moment. Next thing I know, a medical assistant hands me a clipboard with a list of dates and a bunch of hand drawn X’s. She tells me “these are the available surgery dates please pick one” again, as casually as if we are discussing lunch. The paper on the clipboard also happens to have pictures of Mickey Mouse at the top of the list as if choosing surgery is like going to Disneyland. It was all so rushed and impersonal and the opposite of thorough as I will repeat- my toddler was recommended to get surgery to remove an organ in her nose that the doctor didn’t even see. A scope for this should be standard care. It felt like we were on a conveyor belt for a surgery factory. "
