"Dr. Georgetti is fantastic! She is very thorough and knowledgeable. She reviews the files prior to the visit so that she is aware of any prior issues and follows up to make sure everything is resolved. She diagnosed a year long problem my son was having in the first visit after the prior doctor just "monitored" the problem. She takes her time and really listens to you as a parent. She is great with the kids and talks to them at their level. She has been amazing! "
"While Dr Nelson is friendly and easy to talk to, he is much more passive about diagnosing issues than I was comfortable with. My child had a medical issue that went undiagnosed for over 6 months before he referred us to a specialist. His recommendation was to continue to monitor the issue with visits to his office every 2 weeks. During this time, my child dropped from the 80% to the 3% on the growth chart. Turned out that the concerns I kept raising (which Nelson kept brushing aside as "normal") were related to enlarged adenoids and tonsils - which was diagnosed by his new doctor on the first visit after simply listening to his labored breathing. In addition, the office is always backed up and I often waited for over an hour to be seen for scheduled well visits. I would not recommend Dr Nelson and wish we had transferred my child to a new provider sooner rather than letting the issue go on for 6 months. "
General Pediatrics is defined simply as the medical care of children and adolescents. It is one of the broadest specialties, delivering care to patients from birth through young adulthood, and encompassing everything from preventive health to the management of acute and chronic illness. Pediatricians care for the physical, emotional, behavioral, developmental, and social problems that affect children and teens.
A general pediatrician has a wide variety of responsibilities, including:
The management and treatment of illnesses and injuries
Discouraging the spread of serious illness in children, through education and vaccination
Monitoring patients' physical and developmental growth
Performing routine health screenings
Promoting a healthy lifestyle
Guiding parents in all areas of parenting, from offering reassurance to giving advice on everything related to their child, such as feeding, safety, and education
Perhaps more than any other patient group, children are products of the environment in which they live. Because of this, pediatricians don't just treat kids -- they treat communities and families as well. They often become advocates for children and for children's rights. General pediatricians are physicians dedicated to the health and well-being of young people.
