"My wife and I took time off to spend over an hour filling out paperwork. We scheduled an appointment and thought everything was fine. The staff messed up our appointment day/time twice, which is extremely frustrating because I have to take time off from work to go. When we finally went today, we spent 30min waiting to be called. During this time the door to the back was open so you can see the staff laughing and joking around. I have no problem with the staff talking, but please close the door so patients don't see this. Then the doctor walks out to lunch I'm assuming. Where is he going when my child needs to be seen? We shrugged it off still hoping for a good visit. Well once we get in the room, we were told they have nothing on file for us. Our medical records were not transferred (We confirmed our previous doctor had sent them and should have been received) AND they lost our paperwork we spent over an hour filling out. To top it off, all of this was accompanied by attitude. At this point we lost it. How can you lose pages of paperwork? What if shot records were lost and then given when they weren't supposed to? Not good....not good at all. We didn't even get to see the doctor, but I don't even want to give them a 2nd chance at this point."
"Dr. Soto has always had a very positive friendly attitude. She listens to me as the mom and also to my daughter, who is 8. She does not push me to get flu shots for my daughter. She asks once and then moves on. She is always willing to see her last minute and send in Rx if needed."
General Pediatrics is defined simply as the medical care of children and adolescents. It is one of the broadest specialties, delivering care to patients from birth through young adulthood, and encompassing everything from preventive health to the management of acute and chronic illness. Pediatricians care for the physical, emotional, behavioral, developmental, and social problems that affect children and teens.
A general pediatrician has a wide variety of responsibilities, including:
The management and treatment of illnesses and injuries
Discouraging the spread of serious illness in children, through education and vaccination
Monitoring patients' physical and developmental growth
Performing routine health screenings
Promoting a healthy lifestyle
Guiding parents in all areas of parenting, from offering reassurance to giving advice on everything related to their child, such as feeding, safety, and education
Perhaps more than any other patient group, children are products of the environment in which they live. Because of this, pediatricians don't just treat kids -- they treat communities and families as well. They often become advocates for children and for children's rights. General pediatricians are physicians dedicated to the health and well-being of young people.
